Teen Driver Killed In T-Bone Accident

An 18-year-old driver in New York is dead after his Volkswagen Passat was T-boned at an intersection by a Toyota Sienna. A T-bone accident is typically quite traumatic since the driver who is hit doesn’t see the accident coming and isn’t able to avoid it.

The crash happened right around 10 p.m. on a Saturday evening. Police said that the impact was hard enough that the car the teen was driving was pushed into a number of parked vehicles on the side of the street.

One witness who lives nearby said she was busy getting ready to decorate her home for Christmas when she heard the crash. She ran outside, already calling emergency crews, and saw that other people were gathering.

Reports claim that those people were telling the driver to keep his eyes open and that they urged him to wake up.

The teen was still alive, but he was trapped in the ruined vehicle. Emergency crews responded and got him out, a procedure that ate up a critical five minutes. They then quickly took him to Jamaica Hospital, but he passed away at the medical center.

The person driving the Sienna did not have any passengers in the car, and that driver was 21 years old. Medical attention was offered and turned down at the crash site. That driver’s injuries were described as minor.

A death around the holidays always feels a bit more tragic, especially when it happens in an accident that could have been avoided. For families who are facing emotional trauma and high medical bills, it’s important to understand all potential rights to financial compensation.
